The Gates Hotel Barcelona Throws Epic Re-Launch Party

The Gates Hotel Barcelona marked the finish of its complete interior overhaul with a party on Sept. 27, which incited iconic images of New York City. The star of the evening was a giant inflatable King Kong, who stood victorious with the nearby Torre Glories as a backdrop.

The party gathered the city’s visionaries, artists, entrepreneurs, business owners and promoters in honor of the event. Performers dressed as the spires of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral and Spanish actress Cristina Brondo were also in attendance.

The re-launch party exhibited the hotel’s recent renovations, which begin in the lobby and progress up to the hotel’s rooftop terrace. The lobby oversaw the most impressive overhaul, bringing in natural elements that frame versatile work stations, a billiard table, and a comfortable area ideal for conversation and a drink from the cocktail bar.

The space personalizes its relation to the community with artwork by local artists. Most notable is a mural by Julián García Hernández, which shows Barcelona’s expanding skyline and includes The Gates Hotel Barcelona building, which was designed by Juli Capella in 2004.

An intimate show by electro-pop singer Marion Harper enhanced the evening, complete with sweet-as-cotton-candy tunes and deconstructed digital beats.

Both the party and the hotel’s renovations reflect a new era of Barcelona that focuses on technology and development, while staying true to its cultivation of entrepreneurs and local artists. The Gates Hotel Barcelona maintains the old spirit of the city while moving along with it, and the hotel illustrates just this with modern designs and furnishings by local businesses.
